Another survey of graduate students suggested that the most unethical were lawyers followed closely by teachers. And isn’t it ironic how many times lawyers many who are politicians are the ones challenging the ethics of the business world?
How many times do sales professionals to corporate executives engage in what they know to be questionable behavior just to secure the order, to have some policy or expense account approved? Yet, these same individuals want everyone else to behave above board as the expression goes.
Having a written and well communicated values statement along with the policies for ensuring that behaviors are in alignment with the written guidelines is the first step to avoid the here one day gone the next.
Consistent enforcement is the next step. For the most part people do know what is right and wrong. However, people will stretch the rules and use the behaviors of others as their justification for breaking the rules.
For me as an ethical business professional, values are not here one day and gone the next. Ethical behaviors are part of my daily actions. They have helped me stand out as the Red Jacket in the crowd of gray behaviors.

There are so many business owners out there who go against the laws so they can save some extra money at the cost of their employees. This is when they try to underpay their employees and then get away with it. They would pay less than minimum wage. It’s against the law to pay employees minimum wages but a lot of restaurant owners paid their employees below minimum wage. It’s sad because they work hard but they go home with a minimum wage. How can they feed their family or themselves?
I saw one occasion where one employee was made to pay her own worker compensation which is never heard of in history. No one in this world would make their employees pay for worker compensation. It’s not the law. The employers have to pay for it. I guess they will cheat when they can. It’s unethical because people need to live and feed their family. How can people live when they only make an hour but I guess a lot of company is paying employees around – which is ridiculous? A lot of these companies are companies that are run by foreigners who don’t follow the US laws. If you’re working with an American company, they don’t cheat at all.
They follow the rules. I’ve seen restaurants worker who gets low wages and not paid over time even. They all work over time without being paid over time. I think that the labor department should do something about it and this is just to increase the quality of the employee’s life. It’s unethical to let people work 12 hours a day without paying them over time or giving them half an hour lunch break. I’ve seen people who have not been giving half an hour lunch break. I think that business needs to be more ethical so people can survive too. It’s not fair that they’re making millions and they don’t give other people at least the minimum wage or a half an hour lunch break.

In 12 years in home business industry I have yet to meet anyone who started out successful and stayed that way. Every single person who is successful started out as a failure on some level. They tanked in their first program, and maybe their second. And maybe their tenth.
Or they started out like a house on fire. They came into the business and had success right away. Their enthusiasm and energy got them a big following and they made money quickly. Or they find the exact right company at the exact right time. They got lucky in a whole bunch of different ways and capitalized on it.
Of course those kinds of success stories are short term. The law of numbers catches up. Success in network or affiliate marketing takes a steady stream of new people looking at what you have. Most of the old ones simply won’t stick around for the long haul. That’s not a bad thing or a good thing. It’s just the way it is.
It’s only natural. There’s a learning curve. And it’s less about the “stuff” you have to learn and more about WHO you have to become in order to be a person of prominence, with the income that goes along with it. The way people get successful and stay successful in home business is by reinventing themselves. They take on the personal qualities of someone who succeeds. So if you want to become a home business success story: you have to become a personal success story. You have to decide, “That was then, This is now. I’m going to let who I was and what I did then become the past. I’m going to reinvent myself publicly and become the person who thrives in this industry.”
And after you’ve done that, pick up the attitudes, skills and behaviors of the one who have successfully reinvented themselves.
